Just a reminder that we are one of the true 100% non-profits out there. EVERY single penny you donate goes to helping veterans in need. Everything we do is completely voluntary.

💵 ViT Swear Jar & Chump Change Challenge 💱 You've been challenged; Here's how it works: Create a swear jar for 1 month. Swear jar can be placed at home, work, or both. Decide on the type of fines (.25 cents, $1 per curse word or different denominations for different curse words). I also challenge you to empty your pockets each day & toss your spare "chump change" into the jar as well. Take a picture of your beginning (empty) swear jar, copy and paste this status along with your swear jar pic, then tag/challenge 3 of your friends to do the same. After 1 month, take a picture of your swear jar (hopefully it's near full), count your money and donate to veteransintrouble.com (click on any DONATE button within our website or directly through PayPal by searching firstname.lastname@example.org).
If you decide to decline this challenge, please donate $22 (to raise awareness for the 22 veterans A DAY we lose to suicide) to veteransintrouble.com. Let's have some fun and raise money for a great cause at the same time.
On July 23, 2016, we lost one of our brothers. A childhood friend of mine. Travis loved his country and served her as a member of the USMC. Travis was a huge supporter of ViT and participated in all of our Homeless Hand-Up events. We will be conducting a Memorial/Beneffit Ride on Sunday 9/11. Please join us at Platte River Bar & Grill in Englewood CO at 3pm. See flyer below. I approached Travis's wife Jennifer Flohr Scott and asked if we could sponsor Travis and his family .... and she has entrusted us to do so. We humbly accept this role. All donations between today and 9-11-16 will go directly to help this hero's family. In lieu of flowers, please consider being a "friend and lover of giving". If you'd like to make a donation and choose to have your donation go to a different ViT cause, please state so in the "message" section of your donation or reach out to me. I am really looking forward to our small Morgan Country residents (past and present), to aid one of their own. I also challenge other veterans and supporters of veterans to do the same.
Our Third Homeless Hand-Up Sponsored by ViT was completed in May, 2016. We staged directly across the street (East side) from the Denver City & County building. Items included coats, hats, gloves, blankets, sleeping bags, shoes etc... We also accepted monetary donations to help with purchasing items for care packages (socks, gift cards, toiletries, hygiene items etc...). Thanks to the assistance of volunteers and donors, we touched over 100 individual homeless lives. Great job team! Please see the video below.
Homeless Veterans Hand-Out was a great success. We staged just across the street from the City & County building, then walked down 16th Street. Thank you all for coming out and supporting us. This Saturday, November 21st at 12 Noon, we will be conducting our Homeless Veterans Hand-Out. We and our volunteers are putting our "hand out" to handout donated items. Items include coats, hats, gloves, blankets, sleeping bags, socks etc... I believe we have some bringing sandwiches and gift cards too. If you have been unable to donate monetarily or donate items, this is your opportunity to simply donate your time.

"Friends in the Wind" sponsored ViT during their Third Annual Benefit Ride. What a day it was. It was great meeting new friends. The weather was good and the turnout was great. Between donations and the live/silent auctions, we raised $1,175. I am so proud of this small, grassroots, Colorado only organization. We've come a long way and events such as this, only further justify our cause. I would personally like to thank and salute the admins of FITW Don Brainard, Gloria Clough and Garether Mac. I appreciate you all so very much!!
Thanks to our generous donors, we were able purchase school supplies for Veteran families in need. What a great way to express our gratitude.
Members of ViT attended the Defend Freedom Tour in Denver, CO. This event was sponsored by Concerned Veterans for America. Held at the Air & Space Museum at the old Lowry Air Force Base, it was great to meet fellow Veterans and their families and provided an opportunity to do some "networking".
Members of ViT gathered to raise awareness for the 22 Veterans and 1 Active Duty Service Member who commit suicide per day. Such a tragic number.
On June 12, 2015, we completed our Homeless Veteran Sleep-out. I spent the night outdoors, sleeping on the streets, along side homeless Veterans in downtown Denver. I wanted to literally walk a mile in their boots and experience what these guys went through on a nightly basis. We also distributed donated blankets, water bottles, McDonald's gift cards and care packages (filled with socks, hats, gloves, toothpaste, toothbrushes etc...) Please see our pictures and the video below.
Just wanted to "unwrap" what we at ViT accomplished during Christmas. We made Christmas for four (4) families, by providing much needed gift cards for food, toys & clothes. We took one family shopping for gifts and daily necessities, then also sponsored a brother and sister from the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Denver. We also helped feed the homeless by offering meals, food oriented gift cards & cash. I would like to thank our December/Christmas donors, who made all of this possible. A special thank you to Aliyah Shaqelle, who played Santa's helper and is so "hands-on" with ViT. Thanks to Melanie Renee Gonzales for nominating two families in need. Would finally like to thank our sponsors. Thank you all so very much!!!! Merry Christmas and God Bless!!
